Check in: This is super flexible. Use of the common area is always welcome but access to the room depends on cleaning schedules and more importantly... if I am working at the school that day. During the summer months you can get into your room as fast as I can clean it. During the school year, access may be much later (6 pm) due to my travel time home from work. Let's chat a few days before you arrive so we both know the plan!
Key Pickup: Ideally, we will communicate on your way up so I can greet you and give you a quick tour. If not, your name will be on the welcome board with your room (reminder of what you reserved) and your key will be tucked into a decorative basket of towels for your use. Maid service is not included but a towel exchange is located in the Guest Entrance. Check out: 11 a.m. (later may be arranged if possible)
Parking: Spots are marked on the left side of the castle.
Main Entrance: The Guest Entrance/Library has a set of glass french doors (soon to be etched) with a large "Keweenaw Castle" welcome mat outside.
Shoes: The upper two floors have white carpeting so I ask that you please remove your shoes in the Guest Entrance. This will help to make the common space feel more homey and stay clean for walking around in your socks.
Residential Side: The Great Room that you see in pictures/videos is part of the residential side of the building. We feel very honored to be able to live in such a spectacular structure and we like to share that experience with our guests as often as possible. If we are home and in that space, we typically keep the door at the base of the stairs open to welcome you in.
Personalize it! Let me know what I can do to make this experience special for you. I can make diner reservations, book couples massages on site, or maybe pick something up for you in advance of your arrival. Text or call me :)
